We Are A Tribe

Dr. Rhet Langley, MD - Co-Founder

Co-Founder and Visionary of Thrive Medicine

Dr. Rhet Langley is a double board-certified physician in Anesthesiology and Pain Medicine with a clear vision: to bring purpose, precision, and personalized care back into medicine. After years of seeing patients stuck in a system that focused more on symptom management than true health, he set out to build something different.

Thrive Medicine was founded as a direct answer to what’s missing in traditional healthcare: longer conversations, deeper investigations, and real solutions rooted in science. Dr. Langley helps patients move beyond quick fixes and rediscover what it means to feel strong, focused, and energized for life.

With advanced training, years of clinical leadership, and over a decade of service as a Major in the United States Air Force, Dr. Langley brings a calm, mission-driven mindset to every patient he sees. His practice combines diagnostics, regenerative medicine, hormone optimization, and functional strategies to deliver measurable outcomes—not guesswork.

Patients who come to Thrive are often tired of being told “everything looks normal” when they know something’s off. Dr. Langley listens differently. He leads differently. And he helps people step into a new level of performance, clarity, and health that many didn’t know was possible.

This isn’t about chasing trends. It’s about restoring the core of what medicine should be.
Personal, proactive, and rooted in results.

Out of the Office:

Dr. Langley lives with his beautiful wife Sarah and their lovable bulldog, June. He hopes that you will get to meet both soon, being part of the THRIVE FAMILY. He likes to laugh and makes others laugh. In his free time, you will find him in the Heights riding bikes with Sarah, lifting weights, or attempting to make sushi for the first time at home.

Dr. Phillip Gallegos, MD

Co-Founder

Dr. Gallegos is a board-certified anesthesiologist with advanced training from The University of Texas Health Science Center at Houston. With deep expertise in ultrasound-guided nerve blocks and interventional pain management, he’s helped countless patients find relief through precision and innovation. Over the years, he has served in key leadership roles—including Chief of Anesthesia and Hospital Medical Director—and has twice been honored by his peers as a Top Doctor in Anesthesia (2018, 2021).

But behind the professional accolades is a personal story of transformation.

Like many healthcare professionals, Dr. Gallegos once prioritized his career over his own well-being. Years of overwork and self-neglect took a toll until he made the decision to take charge of his health. Guided by the principles of functional medicine and regenerative medicine, as well as ancestral health, he began his own journey toward healing and optimal performance. What started as self-discovery quickly became a calling.

Reunited with fellow colleague from residency training, Dr. Rhet Langley, the two founded THRIVE Medicine Clinic with a bold mission: to help patients go beyond symptom management and truly thrive physically, mentally, and energetically.

Out of the Office:

Dr. Gallegos lives just outside Houston with his wife Katie, their spirited daughter Finley, two clever Basenjis (Captain Morgan & Clementine), a quirky cat named Alley, and a vibrant community of 75 freshwater fish. He and Finley share a passion for aquascaping, while he and Katie live as wellness role models for their daughter—leading by example in fitness and lifestyle.

When he’s not with patients or family, you’ll find Dr. Gallegos in nature (hunting, fishing, or hiking) or immersed in his other passions: cooking, reading, exploring new cultures through travel, and vibing to electronic dance music. He’s also committed to giving back and participates in annual medical missions to provide care to underserved communities.

Ellen Renk

Creative Director & Health Coach

Ellen is a content marketer with over a decade of experience helping brands tell better stories and connect with their people. She's led campaigns, built strategies, and brought ideas to life across industries, but her favorite work lives at the intersection of creativity and impact.

A lifelong athlete (D1 long and triple jumper, National Champion, CrossFit Games competitor), Ellen has always been drawn to health and wellness. She also knows what it is like to get lost in the narratives the industry throws at you. To believe that health is just only weight, appearance, or even performance, and to let it define you. After shifting her narrative (and recovering from a 6+ year eating disorder), she found a more holistic approach and began coaching others to root their health in nourishment, self-respect, and joy. Now at Thrive, Ellen gets to merge her marketing chops with her passion for changing people’s perspective around what it means to be well.

Out of the Office:

When she's off the clock, you’ll find her running with her two dark red Golden Retrievers, making ceramics, exploring new places, or baking something just slightly overambitious.
